New Interim Appointments
In view of the reported prevalence of cases of sexual harassment at a number of institutions in the country and to protect vulnerable groups amongst both students and staff at UAT, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Kingston Nyamapfene, has taken the first step in preventing and curbing such occurrences at UAT by appointing Barr. Douye Odi-Owei as University Ombudsman for Sexual Harassment. She will be the “point person” for the lodging of sexual harassment claims by any student or member of staff affected. This is an interim appointment, in which she will serve together with her current role in the office of the University’s General Counsel. All students and staff are assured that all complaints lodged will be dealt with confidentially and in a highly professional and sensitive manner.
Similarly, as an interim measure while we review the structure of our Human Resources office and in an effort to give voice to all our staff and to create an effective communication channel through which staff may communicate to Management issues that negatively affect their general welfare, the Vice Chancellor has appointed Barr. Seiyefa Benedicta Ezeania as interim Staff Welfare Officer. She will serve in that role contemporaneously with her normal role as Public Relations Officer.
