PHILOSOPHY AND OBJECTIVES
The University of Africa, Toru-Orua was envisioned as an ENTREPRENEURIAL University with the sole mandate of producing knowledge-based and highly skilled workforce that would galvanize development and growth of Africa’s agricultural, manufacturing, production, and service sectors of the economy through application of innovation, science, and new technologies. Consequent upon this vision, our philosophy and strategic objectives as a Faculty will be to interphase endogenous research and innovation, driven by the national, sub-regional and continental developmental needs and aspirations with functional, dynamic, and pragmatic academic programmes and courses.
We shall constantly innovate our processes and procedure to align with the international standards and rules of engagement in order to evolve or engender a system of teaching, learning and research that would provide the credible alternative to similar experiences as found in public universities in Nigeria and across African countries, particularly, in the quality of teaching/learning and research infrastructures/facilities, student discipline, internationalized curriculum, and to engage in community related services and activities that can generate business opportunities for the ultimate societal development and growth.
Therefore, our instructional materials are designed to facilitate interdisciplinary approach to building a broad-based knowledge and technical know-how in which students are offered courses across programmes and departments to ensure their marketability globally. We intend to produce graduates who can be trusted, and who can deliver on the vision and strategic developmental objectives of institutions and organizations they work or build their careers. Consequently, our academic programmes and departments are strategically aligned to elicit or project our ultimate research interests or foci, quality academics, concentration of competencies and available state-of-the-art research facilities upon which to further build the platform that would encourage cross-fertilization of ideas between indigenous initiatives and proven outcomes of empirical research to galvanize our technological development.
As a Faculty, we would package a set of learning and research experiences that would interface directly with every segment of our host and larger communities to evolve a robust partnership between all stakeholders including governments and industry to engender innovative approaches to meeting societal needs and solving our developmental challenges. Our learning experiences will enlist skills acquisition through many hands-on experiences from industrial exposure and engagements of our students and staff with the purposes of providing internship opportunities for our students to develop their entrepreneurial skills, and creating Business Start-Ups opportunities for faculty and students upon graduation.

|Computer Science||Five credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) including English, Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry.||Two A’ level passes in one or more relevant subjects (Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics)||UTME subjects are: Mathematics, Physics and one of Biology, Chemistry, Agric. Science, Economics and Geography.|
|Mathematics (B. Sc.)||Five credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) including English, Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry.||Two A’ level passes in Mathematics and any other science subject||UTME subjects are: English, Mathematics and any two of Physics/Biology or Chemistry|
|Microbiology (B. Sc.)||Five credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) including English, Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry.||Two A’ level passes chosen in Chemistry and any one from Biology, Zoology or Botany.||UTME subjects are: Biology, Chemistry and either Physics or Mathematics. Physics|
|Physics (B. Sc.)||Five credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) including English, Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry.||Two A’ level passes in Physics, Mathematics or Chemistry.||UTME subjects are: Physics and Mathematics, Chemistry or Biology.|
Professor Oyelana, Olatunji, is a Professor of Plant Biology and Biotechnology, and was the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State in 2015, as well as the immediate past Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Chrisland University, KM 5 Ajebo Road, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. He was active in both universities through the development of appropriate strategic policies towards innovative academic and research programmes for effective national and world impact. He played active roles in strengthening the Universities’ Market and Research Units for Branding purposes and Retention strategy. As a distinguished scholar, Professor Oyelana, Olatunji has accumulated over 26 years as university lecturer, researcher, and administrator. He has equally served the academic community in different capacities including: Dean of Faculty of Basic & Applied Sciences (at Elizade University); Head of Department of Biological Sciences (at Elizade and Redeemer’s Universities) and Director, Quality Assurance (at Babcock University).
