UAT Vice Chancellor Bags an Award of Excellence

The Officials Nigeria Magazine, an Abuja-based magazine, presented an award
of excellence to the Vice Chancellor of the University of Africa, Prof. Kingston
Nyamapfene on Saturday, 21st August, 2021.

The award was presented on behalf of the magazine by its Editor-In-Chief, Mr.
Emma Okon, who stated that the award is in recognition of the good leadership
style exhibited by Prof. Nyamapfene, as well as the rapid development that has
been taking place since his assumption of office as Vice Chancellor of the
University.

Prof. Nyamapfene expressed surprise at having been nominated and gratitude for
the award. He stated that he views the award as a challenge for him to do more
in the University. The Vice Chancellor stated that the University is essentially still
a construction site and raising resources has been quite challenging. He, however,
stated that work is underway to take the University’s infrastructure to the next
level through continuing discussions with government and negotiating new
partnerships.

In response to a question from the Editor-in Chief of the magazine, Prof.
Nyamapfene expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Governor of Bayelsa
State, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri and his team of Commissioners in
supporting education, notably the work of the Education and Works ministries of
the State. He opined that the present administration has shown great commitment
to honouring the legacy of the previous Government in making education a high
priority for the State.

The Vice Chancellor stated that the University of Africa is a University for
transformative experience. UAT Students are not being spoon-fed but are groomed
to have a sense of what they can do for themselves to foster critical thinking and
entrepreneurship.
