Admission Requirements, Application and Registration

Admission Requirements for the PGD Programme
The criteria for admission into the Postgraduate Diploma programme is satisfaction of the matriculation requirements, which are:
a) Five credit passes including English Language and Mathematics at the ‘O’ level.
b) Relevant Bachelor’s Degrees not lower than third Class Division from recognised universities.
c) Bachelor’s Degrees with at least second-class lower Division may be considered.
d) Higher National Diploma at upper credit level.
e) Relevant professional qualifications, such as ICAN, ANAN, etc.
Masters Degrees
A first degree in the relevant subject, with a minimum of Second Class Honours of the University of Africa, Toru-Orua (UAT) or any other recognised University.
PhD.
An aggregate of 60% from a Master programme or 3.5 CGPA on a 5.0 scale will be admitted. A candidate with a lower score may enroll into the MPhil/PhD programme.

Application for Postgraduate Programmes
a) Application forms are obtainable from the Postgraduate School on payment of the appropriate fees to the University. It can also be obtained online from the Postgraduate School website or URL.
b) Guideline for Filling Application Form
i) The applicants should provide all information sought in the form, as an application with incomplete information shall not be treated as valid.
ii) Proposed course of study including area of specialization, if any, should be clearly stated.
iii) Referees’ recommendations should be sent to the Secretary, Postgraduate School separately, or along with the application form, provided that they are sealed in separate envelopes by the referees.
iv) Applicants should ensure that their official transcripts of academic records are forwarded to the Postgraduate School by their former Universities. Applications without official transcripts of academic record shall not be processed.
v) Duly completed application form should reach the Secretary, Postgraduate School, on or before the closing date stipulated for a particular year.
vi) A candidate can apply for admission to only one degree programme, at any given time.

Registration
a) There shall be provision for both full-time and part-time registrations
b) The process of registration shall consist of the following:
i) Completion of the prescribed forms, obtainable from the Postgraduate School or online, by the candidate.
ii) Payment of prescribed fees to the Bursary Unit.
iii) Endorsement of course registration by the relevant Heads of Departments.
iv) Submission of completed registration form to the Postgraduate School, on or before the closing date;
v) Presentation of Original copies of all credentials at the time of submission of the completed registration form for final registration.

Duration of Degree Programmes
PGD
Full-time Diploma: Minimum of two (2) semesters and a maximum of four (4) semesters. 26 Part-time Diploma: Minimum of four (4) semesters and a maximum of six (6) semesters.
Master Degree
i) The Full-Time Programme would run for a minimum of three semesters, and a maximum of six semesters.
ii) The Part-Time Programme would run for a minimum of four semesters and a maximum of eight semesters.
PhD
The Full-Time Ph.D. Programme would run for a minimum of four semesters, and a maximum of ten semesters.
The Part-Time Ph.D. Programme would run for a minimum of six semesters and a maximum of fourteen semesters
