Welcome to the University of Africa, at Toru-Orua (UAT), one of Africa’s youngest institutions, having taken in its first cohort of undergraduate students in 2017.
UAT, a State university with a strong focus on “internationalisation” represents a new way of providing and managing higher education, combining the benefits of strong State support with private sector entrepreneurial thinking.

Foundation
Build a solid foundation for your educational pursuits by undertaking the rigorous one-year Foundation program at UAT. The program provides comprehensive preparation for JAMB's UTME examinations and grants exclusive access to several benefits at UAT.

Barclays Foubiri AYAKOROMA has B.A. (Hons.), M.A. and PhD degrees from the universities of Calabar, Ibadan and Port Harcourt, respectively, specialising in Playwriting & Directing, Theatre & Broadcast Management, and Film Studies.
A pioneer staff of Rivers State Television (RSTV), Channel 22UHF, Port Harcourt (1986-1992), he was a Lecturer at the Department of Theatre Arts, University of Port Harcourt (1992-2000), before being appointed as the Executive Director, Bayelsa State Council for Arts and Culture, Yenagoa (2000-2009). He was later called for higher service at the national level, as Executive Secretary/CEO, National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Abuja-FCT, Nigeria, where he served two tenures (2009-2017).
